Overview
Pollen from Cuman/perennial ragweed (Ambrosia psilostachya, Asteraceae).
Ragweed pollen causes half of all hayfever cases in North America, with individual plants capable of producing around a billion wind-dispersed pollen grains in a season.
Technical description of Ambrosia pollen, from PalDat (Sam & Halbritter, 2016): small isopolar monads, spheroidal, circular or lobate in polar view, tricolporate (brevicolpi), with an echinate exine.
