Overview
This is a 3D representation of about 1,000 X-ray microCT scans of a Red Maple (Acer rubrum) petiole. The grayscale images below show transverse and longitudinal views through the scanned petiole. White areas in the images generally represent cell walls and other dense materials that absorb X-rays. The dark gray areas are typically air spaces.
The original microCT data were collected at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Advanced Light Source (beamline 8.3.2, microct.lbl.gov).
